What is Geofencing?

Geofencing is the act of creating virtual boundaries around a particular geographic area via GPS, RFID, or other mobile data. An alert is trigged when the tracked device’s location enters or leaves the geographic perimeters (geofenced area) set. Setting a geofence has a number of benefits, including but not limited to monitoring equipment loss, damage, or theft. Geolocating a device is referred to as “geotracking”.
