What is Unassigned Drive Time?

Unassigned driving time is any time a vehicle with an ELD (or AOBRD) is moved without the driver being logged in. It is an FMCSA requirement that electronic logs keep a record of these unassigned driving events, and carriers must make note of any of these incidents. Carriers and fleet managers either must assign these events to a driver or explain why there are unassigned events, and they must keep unassigned driving records for at least 6 months.
